Softbox started out as a very loose project without a name or style. It was just two guys who had known each other forever and were interested in recording originals. Todd and I started talking about this probably back in 1993 or maybe even earlier. We had jammed together before but in 1993 I spent a weekend over at his place and we recorded 2 songs on his 4 track in between getting drunk and causing trouble. Both of which turned our excellent. I was still sort of trying to keep my band Exll going, and invited him to drum for it. Unfortunatley this only lasted for about 3 months. During the late 90's I would stop in on a very frequent basis and we would record various songs (muses) of mine. Some were rock songs, some were metal, some were punk, one was even a disco song !!! As Todd aquired more recording gear , all these songs just kept sounding better. There was always the idea we would eventually record a CD but there was no focus. To be honest, in hindsight, after we recorded Becoming, the first building block was set. We finally had a name, and in late 2004 we started jamming most of what would become the album Fallen. We jammed some of the ideas to completion and some I cobbled together in the beginning of 2005. Over the next 2 years we would slowly build our recording of 10 songs. Only through Todds perciverance did anything ever get finished. In the spring on 2007 we started looking for another person to play, so we could at some point do live shows. We tried out a extremely talented guitarist and an enthusiastic bass player, but unfortuanletly neither worked out. Softbox released their album fallen in Jan 2008, and managed to squeak in a couple of gigs before the band became a project again. Recording for the album Interesting started in February 2009. The album Interesting was finished in Aug 2010 and was released in April 2011. Softbox enlisted the help of guitarist Jordan Tupper to become a band again. Todd & Jordan were going through alot of personal issues and the band languished. Kurt started recording the third album in the summer of 2015 but progress was slow. Still the recording progressed, just a glacial speeds. While working on the final bits for the third album Softbox started playing again after 10 years of inactivity. We are hoping that the new album will be out 2024! \m/
